This gallery contains Ecuadorian plants on either white or black backgrounds or both.
Shooting subjects on a black or white background places all emphasis on the subject. The contrast can make objects pop and the detail more apparent. These pictures were taken on one of the following backgrounds depending on size: black acrylic sheet, white LED mini lightbox, white acrylic sheet, or white dry-erase substrate. The white background is much more forgiving while the black acrylic background tends to show every speck of dust or scratch on its surface. It can become difficult to keep a black surface clean out in the field. This is evident is many of the photos. A soft makeup blush brush is used to try and keep the surface clean but often field conditions are too hard to overcome.
