Old Camping Kitchen Box
Prior to getting the AT Overland Horizon off-road trailer my camping kitchen was housed in a Zarges K420 series model 40862 all aluminum fully sealed locking box. The exterior box dimensions are 31.5" L x 15.7" W x 13" H. This box has been around the world multiple times in its previous life shipping research supplies to and from places such as Cameroon, Africa.
The blue plastic tool box houses all the eating (for 4) and cooking utensils, cooking timer, cleaning sponges, ziploc bags, can opener, lighter, pot scrapper, etc. I have 5 plates, 4 larger bowls, and 4 smaller bowls - all stainless steel. There are 4 Kleen canteen non-insulated stainless steel pint cups and the 4 colored koozies fit for hot or cold beverages. Two white letter size cutting boards, an aluminum pot lid, collapsible silicon colander, plastic 2 cup and 1 cup containers for measuring water to cook complete the kit.
My stove kit consists of the Jetboil Genesis Basecamp system. This consists of a two burner stove, optional Jetlink for using regular Jetboil cups, a 5L pot and a 10 inch frying pan, and a lid that fits both. This runs off of a 1lb propane tank and for the trailer a hose connected to the larger propane tank. This is one of the finest camping stoves I have used and I have owned and still own a lot of them. There is a 1.8L Grande Java press Jetboil cup and a 1.8L Sumo Jetboil cooking system. The standard Jetboil burner and fuel packing inside the sumo for a more portable solution or emergency backup. I only use the Sumo for boiling water. There is also a 1.5L Jetboil pot when a smaller pot is needed. A folding aluminum windscreen is packed if wind interferes with the flame. An emergency backup 1lb propane tank burner and stand also fit in the box.
On the rare occasion a campfire is allowed or made a mini grill with homemade cover, fire starter sticks and lighter, compact roasting sticks, and larger cooking tools are available.
For cleaning there are several kitchen towels, a folding drying rack, a large collapsible tub, dish soap, lava bar soap for dirty jobs, vinegar based cleaner for the tables, a finger scrubbing brush, sea to summit clothes line, trash bags (3 gallon size to keep loads small and easier to pack and throw away), and collapsible trash bag holder. A 12v DC shower sprayer with mini pump that can be inserted in to a water jug or other water container can be used to rinse dishes, wash hair, take a shower, etc. A small dust broom can help clean out the tent if it gets dirty.
Everything shown here packs into the Zarges box.
