Hymenoptera - Ants, Bees & Wasps
O. Hymenoptera - Ants, Bees, Wasps
The Order Hymenoptera consists of the bees, wasps, ants, sawflies, and horntails. Except for worker ants, most adults have two pairs of membranous wings. Most hymenoptera are ecological specialists with a broad range of behavioral adaptations. They along with the Order Isoptera (termites) are the only orders to evolve complex social systems with a division of labor.
